A bold new branding for MOMENTA.
MOMENTA, is an art gallery based in Montreal, known for its innovative approach to contemporary art. The gallery challenges conventional boundaries, offering a dynamic space that showcases thought-provoking exhibitions and fosters new artistic conversations.
The directive was to develop a fresh identity for the gallery that captured a bold perspective on the organization’s branding, while ensuring the design could be easily adapted across various platforms.
My vision was to create an identity that feels both innovative and welcoming, appealing to anyone who appreciates contemporary art. I drew inspiration from the gallery’s commitment to showcasing diverse, thought-provoking works while highlighting its connection to both the present and the past.
My focus was on crafting a unified brand identity that could be easily applied across different platforms, balancing modern design with a sense of timelessness.
Representing MOMENTA, I carefully developed the logo with custom typography that blends sharp and rounded edges. This combination reflects the gallery's sophisticated yet approachable nature.
The icon, a dismembered letter "M," is positioned to create a frame, symbolizing the act of viewing and engaging with art, much like framing a moment in time with one’s hands. I chose muted, neutral colors to embrace a raw, minimalistic feel, allowing the art itself to take center stage. The identity is designed to be versatile, allowing it to adapt seamlessly across various materials, from posters and book covers to brochures and signage.
